Hailey Prince Biography and the History of Berkshire Youth Ballet

Hailey Prince trained at Elmhurst Ballet School with a full scholarship on the classical ballet and contemporary dance course.

During her time at Elmhurst , Hailey was privileged to work with their professional teachers, especially influenced by Heather Fish, Alfreada Thorogood, Andre Devilliers and her singing teacher Jon Laird. She performed many works by famous and exciting choreographers such as Jiri Kyllian, Patrick Lewis and Paul Maddon.

Hailey Prince has now been teaching for 6 years as a qualified ISTD teacher in Ballet and Modern Theatre from Pre - Primary to Advanced 2 level. She is also experienced in teaching free work ballet, ballet conditioning, pointework, pas de deux, jazz, contemporary and lyrical. Her training in the ISTD syllabus has been the basis for her style of teaching as well as setting the standards she expects of her dancers. The exceptional standard of the teachers at Elmhurst continues to inspire her.

This year she has been updating her associate qualifications to FDI and CDE level and is now starting on her Licentiate training. She also completed her PTLLS teaching qualifications in September 2010.

As well as her teacher training, Hailey spent her free time in 2010 training for the ISTD Advanced 2 Imperial Ballet and Advanced 2 Modern Theatre exams passing both exams in August 2011 with 77(B) and 89(A). This was for her to learn all the amazing new Advanced 2 modern and ballet work and to challenge herself in her own technique and training – her motto as a teacher is to continuously develop her own training in as many ways as possible to fully benefit her students.

Hailey was recently appointed to Head of Ballet and ISTD coordinator for Thames Valley Universities Foundation Degree in Dance with Creative Academy . As well as this position, she teaches ISTD Ballet and Modern Theatre at Heidi Rhodes School of Dance in Windsor and Englefield Green and has been invited to teach master classes for the prestigious Move It exhibition for the last two years.

Her debut choreographic production of 'Secret of the Seasons' performed by Bournemouth Ballet club (a similar organisation to Berkshire Youth Ballet) and was highly successful. With a cast of 70 young dancers ranging from 7 to 19, she put on a superb and professional looking production as well as taking the role of artistic director, designing exciting sets and beautiful costumes.

Hailey went on to set up Berkshire Youth Ballet in 2006 (aged 22) and discovered the fabulous standard of young dancers and ballet schools from Berkshire . The second production of Secrets of the Seasons was a great achievement for the dancers and schools involved as well as a huge personal achievement for herself.

In 2008, Hailey once more put on an original production with Berkshire Youth Ballet titled ‘The Enchanted Toy box' at Bearwood College Theatre. This production was on a larger scale, in a lovely theatre and even more ambitious. The feedback from the production was extremely positive and has inspired her to put together a third original production that will be performed on the 6 th February 2011 titled ‘The Princess and The Bird'. Rehearsals are currently underway with a fabulous cast of enthusiastic, talented and dedicated young dancers.

Please come and support Berkshire Youth Ballets latest production – the talent of the dancers is a pleasure to watch and perhaps you have a budding ballerina who would like to be involved in Berkshire Youth Ballet for the next production! The young dancers passion and dedication is an inspiration for all.
